Ketera Decrees Business Value Should be an Inherent Right
Santa Clara, Calif., September 14, 2005 – Ketera, the leading provider of on demand spend management solutions, today released the On Demand Bill of Rights. The On Demand Bill of Rights is a declaration intended to help customers gain awareness of and claim their various rights to business value from business applications. What began as the next generation applications delivery by a few providers is quickly becoming an established movement in how other business software vendors license and sell their applications.
The On Demand Movement has forced several traditional packaged applications software companies to begin claiming they offer "on demand" solutions. The On Demand Bill of Rights cautions customers to beware of products that were not designed and built from inception to be on demand. These imitation solutions are often re–packaged versions of outdated products that are a minefield of hidden costs that can destroy ROI. The "On Demand Bill of Rights" is intended to assist customers of any business application on how they should evaluate on demand solutions.
As large packaged application software vendors continue to merge, it becomes even more critical that customers understand their rights as consumers and exactly what on demand can deliver in terms of benefits and results. No longer should companies be denied their full potential, in terms of growth, performance and earnings because of the onerous burden of exorbitantly priced and outdated enterprise software solutions. Such as one amendment states: Excessive costs, fees, services, support and maintenance shall not be required, nor disproportionate marketplace access fees imposed, nor cruel and unusual time constraints inflicted.
"Many companies seeking to free themselves from the burden of expensive and cumbersome packaged application solutions, have expressed the desire for on demand services that are low–risk, low–cost, easy to use and deliver rapid time to value," said Steve Savignano, CEO of Ketera. "Ketera already delivers this value to all of our customers, both large and small. By introducing the On Demand Bill of Rights, we′re helping companies gain more awareness and recognize the business value they deserve from technology solutions."
Written to explain the revolutionary freedoms being granted to businesses through on demand solutions, the On Demand Bill of Rights details 10 amendments that guide a company through the means to low–cost implementation, ease of use, and immediate ROI. These amendments and their guarantee to the right to on demand solutions are written as new principles of best business practices for any business process management solution and especially Spend Management. Detailed rights for Spend Management include the Right to Open Communication between Buyers and Suppliers and the Right to Real Time Spend Visibility.
Ketera is helping to spearhead the on demand movement, which has already sparked an industry–wide revolution. "The On Demand movement has been described as a disruptive movement furthering the democratization of software," said Tara Ryan, VP of Marketing for Ketera. "We believe the On Demand Bill of Rights is the perfect statement of new found revolutionary rights, freedoms and powers to the customers who purchase business applications and solutions. As large vendors consolidate, we believe even more strongly in returning the power to the customer–the power to choose the best, most cost–effective solution without hidden service fees and exorbitant upfront costs. It′s the power of many versus the power of few."
