ServiceMaster Saves on Spend with Ketera′s On Demand Spend Management Solution

Aberdeen Names ServiceMaster e–Procurement Deployment as "Best Practices"

Santa Clara, Calif., January 10, 2006 – Ketera, (www.ketera.com) the leading provider of On Demand Spend Management solutions, today announced that ServiceMaster (NYSE: SVM) has deployed Ketera′s Procurement solution for all direct and indirect material spend. By using the Ketera solution, the provider of interior and exterior residential and commercial home services will streamline its entire purchasing process, making it easier for employees to obtain the materials they need while reducing costs from off–contract purchases.

In a recent analyst report, Aberdeen Group identified the ServiceMaster deployment as a best practice. Aberdeen reported that ServiceMaster achieved a conservative cost savings of 3 percent for all spend that goes through the Ketera Procurement system; a compliance rate of 98 percent has played a major role in achieving this savings. Additional savings of seven to 20 percent were achieved through increased spending leverage and sourcing activity.

"With the large network of business units and leading brands provided by ServiceMaster, we knew there were opportunities to better leverage our buying power, but to do so we needed a service that could be quickly and effectively integrated into our complex supply chain," said Dian Trosclair, VP of Supply Chain Management at ServiceMaster. "We looked at all the other spend management vendors, including Ariba, but decided on Ketera because of the rapid ROI–within 90 days we were fully deployed and averaging two to three percent ROI on every dollar of procurement spend. The Ketera suite of spend management solutions will continue to play a critical role supporting our enterprise–wide, procure–to–pay initiatives as we extend these services across all our business units."

"An increasing number of enterprises are looking to on demand spend management solutions to accelerate procurement transformation and benefits while minimizing solution adoption and management costs and burdens," said Tim Minahan, SVP, Global Supply Management Research, Aberdeen Group, Inc. "ServiceMaster is a best–in–class example of this phenomenon. They were able to leverage on demand solutions to standardize procurement processes and improve spend leverage while supporting decentralized procurement execution – all resulting in significant cost savings."

ServiceMaster is equipping 4,000 of its TruGreen ChemLawn employees with Ketera′s e–procurement tool. Using the web–based Ketera system, employees will now be able to make all purchases from a centralized portal – allowing them to buy anything from fertilizer to pencils quickly and easily. In addition, the centralized process will help ServiceMaster eliminate "maverick" or off–contract spending, track transactions and leverage the buying power of the entire organization.

"When you focus on improving business processes that impact the bottom line by using tools that don′t require large investments in capital and resources, you set your company up for success," said Steve Savignano, Chairman and CEO of Ketera. "The ServiceMaster deployment is a great example of the impact Ketera′s on demand e–procurement solution has on non–core, strategic processes – from the fast deployment to short ROI timeline. We look forward to working with this team to help them extend these efficiencies and savings throughout the company."

Upcoming Ketera solution deployments will target additional ServiceMaster brands including Terminix and American Residential Services. For more information on Service Master′s implementation of the Ketera on demand spend management solution, please visit www.ketera.com.
